apc the next igo? can anyone add companies that hold 30% free carried interests in major mineral projects? i don't want to be putting the horse before the cart, i'm just looking for precedents in the type of deal that has been struck between apc and sbm, and the igo/anglo - tropicana deal is the first that springs to mind, and certainly a transformational deal for igo.

i have spoken to a couple of industry insiders yesterday to understand the significance of this deal and the response was overwhelmingly positive. all of them acknowledging that the cash component is significant, and that the total value of the jv could exceed $100m to reach bfs where apc would then have to contribute - discovery success dependent of course.

in relation to the other sop hopefuls this is a bit of a game changer as well. of the other 4 companies that i am following and researching, none have anything but sop. i agree that companies need to focus on key projects and core competencies, but having someone take care of a potentially significant project on your ground while you focus on your main game could turn apc into a 'multiple streams of income' (robert kiyosaki?) company.
