The whole of Lake Leroy/Lake Cowan is an exploration dream with todays modern exploration technology, Gold, Nickel & one day i think Copper. Red Hill todays Kambalda started off with gold discoveries in the late 1800s, followed by the discovery of Nickel in 1966. Since then multiple mines have opened up in the surrounding area both Nickel & Gold. To think that new discoveries are being made even today is outstanding. This discovery is important it gives SIR flexibility in the mining world by having 2 commodities & 2 sources of income.
