AGL Energy has suspended its application to expand its Camden coal seam gas venture south of Sydney amid a growing furore in local communities about the impact of planned drilling and fracking.
The move to freeze the proposal for the $100 million Camden North project comes as the federal government seeks to force NSW to strengthen its regulations for coal and coal seam gas projects and allow the independent scientific assessment of their effects on water aquifers.
