The lower biomass is explained in the results, it's down to higher than average temperatures that result in lower growth rates.
Any year that has higher temperatures will result in lower growth rates & as a result lower biomass. Get used to it, it'll happen more frequently with climate change.
Your post suggests a cover up, i'd be careful what you post.
