RE Buffett: I guess I will out myself and my political position.... I'm a filthy "centrist" which is an extremely misleading name for a political pragmatist (someone who values pragmatism above ideology). The point being that I don't ignore people because I don't like them or because other people don't like them.... I'm going full autist and jude people on the objective value of their claims. If Buffet makes claims that are interesting and make sense then I will evaluate them as such, and if he makes claims that are clearly motivated by self interest them i will factor this in. The same goes for anyone else, including yourself. If Shine fails to pay a dividend (and institutes a buyback) and the market is shallow/irrational enough to reduce the price to 15c... then excepting other factors this is a massive "buy" signal.
I raised a post on the SGH thread about the problems with shorting as a strategy and I noticed that you did not respond to this. I reiterate that there are big strategic and mathematical problems with this strategy. I also reiterate that from the perspective of a "long" it is in my interest for there to be shorts in the market. Why do you think it is economically rational to be engaged in short selling? I am very interested in arguments that would change my point of view. I want to improve my understanding - but counter arguments must be rational arguments, not ideological ones.
