How's this, if everyone was a value investor and kept enough cash then I agree it wouldn't be an issue.
There also wouldn't be speculation, technical analysis, under or over valued companies, overpaid directors, professional analysts, commodity market cycles, corporate corruption of government, frauds or credit cycles and financial crises with ensuing recessions.
It would be far from anyone's ideal world but it would be a whole lot better than what we have today with widespread frauds, corrupt, incompetent managerial aristocracy, boom and bust in commodities, climate change and depleting natural resources.
Quite clearly we are reducing our planet to a living hell, of the kind we have applied to each other for hundreds of years.
Yes personal responsibility would be nice unfortunately that's not the world we live in.
