I am afraid that you will be highly disappointed.
No gossip, no insider story, no trading tricks. Just plain commonsense.
It's common knowledge that brokers reports are flawed. They are based on the informations that the companies allow them to see. It's not easy to see through the smoke curtain. A professional with a good knowledge of the activity can to some extent read between the lines, but with the PR people between the actors and the auditors it is increasingly difficult. So the brokers are given propaganda and they report propaganda.
Remember that a couple of weeks before the fall of Enron it was still rated AAA by the most reputable agencies.
The good new is that there is an unfaltering way to test the sincerity of a report, you just need time. A report is sincere and it's author is creditable when the predictions it makes became reality.
When a gas EP company doesn't drill after it announced bunches of wells, you can suspect big problems and it's time for you to dig in, or get out of the stock.
Just compare the historic of EGL's annoucements and the realizations, you will understand what I mean. To know exactly why is more difficult but you can have some ideas.
