I've been in charge of geologists and you can't paint them all with the same brush. Some are good some not so good.
As I said, colour in mineral identification is a small part of the art. Bornite should be easily distinguishable do to its fast colour change when exposed to air. Bornite that does have this property is not normal so more caution should be warranted in its identification.
When a minerals reflectance changes by 6.5% in 5.5 minutes because it's exposed to air, that becomes pretty obvious, wouldn't you say. Esh
