Meanwhile, Sprott marvelled at the recent drilling results from Fosterville's high-grade Swan zone.

New results released from the Swan Zone last month included 7.45m at 289 grams per tonne gold (estimated true width 6m); 11.9m at 155gpt gold (ETW 9.9m); 3.55m at 423gpt gold (ETW 3.2m); 7.2m at 215gpt (ETW 5.9m); and 4m at 353gpt (ETW 3.4m).

"These are outer-worldly - these are crazy good," Sprott said.
"Most people can't adapt to outer-worldly results."

Sprott said after backing Goldcorp when its management and Red Lake mine were "poorly thought-of", he did the same with Kirkland Lake and Fosterville.

"We look for things where we feel like we're stealing something," he said.

Novo chairman Dr Quinton Hennigh first went down to Victoria to look at the mine in early 2016.

"Quinton said ‘you're not going to believe the grades they're going to have here at Fosterville'," Sprott said.
"And voila! There are the grades."

Kirkland Lake has flagged a reserve increase at Fosterville later this year.

Sprott said he had data that suggested a reserve grade of 75gpt gold, though it was "officially 60gpt" now.
"Stand by, baby! But you have to be conservative."

Sprott said Fosterville was also puking gold and the upside was clear.

"The question is, is [the high-grade gold] going to be below the whole 9km [of strike]?" he said.

"Some people believe it could be another Bendigo. Bendigo had 22 million ounces - we've only got 2Moz.
"If you were a betting man, you'd probably bet we'd hit gold."

Sprott said it also irritated him when people accused him of pumping things up, saying he'd barely ever sold a share.

"You think I can sell? I'm so deep in I can't do anything," he said.
"It has to work."
