re: Ann: Full Year Results Announcement and I...
Judging from the comments on this thread, I assume a gentleman (or lady, possibly, I'm not certain) that goes by the handle of Fat Bloater has been "contributing" to this thread.
As it happens I am no longer in a position whereby I have access to this member's posts - courtesy of a neat little HotCopper feature in the form of the "Ignore" switch - but I assume he (or she) has been characteristically puerile in his (or her) comments.
My exhortation to fellow members is to desist from being overly harsh in response to FB, for I sense he is having a very hard time of it in recent months given the way some of his much-vaunted shorting opportunities have had their share prices appreciate quite dramatically.
When I did have the pleasure of access to his posts, he was outspoken with more than a mere modicum of vitriol on companies such as COF, MMS, TPI, and even the market overall where I recall him (or her) making reference some time back observing sagaciously that the Australian benchmark index "struggling" to break through the 5,000 level.
So, be gentle with him (or her). Things are not going well for the poor guy (or girl).
Regards
Caring Cam
PS. As many readers will know, many people in FB's current situation will - out of sheer personal embarrassment - vehemently deny that he (or she) was, in fact, positioned the way that he (or she), in fact claimed to be.
Accordingly, expect platitudes such as:
"I am making SOOOO much money fleecing gullible investors",
or,
“Oh, No, no, no, no. I wasn’t short stock XYZ, which has just gone up 50%....you misunderstood me. What I meant to say was that I was short when it was going down, but I covered my Short position right at the bottom, and now I am just LOOKING to re-initiate the short position as the stock doubles in price. As soon as the stock falls again, I’ll let you know again exactly the level at which I shorted. For I am a very influential, and widely-followed investor, and if I told everyone what I was doing before I did it, the whole world would be doing the same and I’d miss out...”
So, fully expect this sort of riposte.
But be forgiving of this sort of thing: For, while Desperation and Flaky Logic invariably go hand-in-hand, Desperation and Outright Fabrication often do, too.
