Your point is well made about about the need to be able fund a dignified burial. My post was not respectful of this. I expressed my views poorly.
I am an old “lifey”. I believe in the protection it provided. My problem with funeral insurance is the poor value it offers. There are better ways for many people to fund their funerals. If finances are so tight, then paying for funeral insurance may not be the right allocation of dollars or best way to pay for a funeral.
Providers of funeral cover make money by signing up poorer people who later discontinue the policy as they cannot afford to keep paying. It is a cynical product.
Look at the adds aimed at people with money to spare for the policy. They could have a funeral savings plan or a prepaid funeral. Many sales are a guilt sale. Funeral insurance is at the bad end. It is bad value. People in the life business know this. It is why it is flogged by less reputable companies in less reputable ways.
