Thanks. I knew it was about that, either way a relatively small free float.
And great observation, it would be vitally important for FRX to invest a good amount of time training and building strong rapport with the flight crews. They are now FRX's "sky army" of sales/customer service representatives.
There will be a big difference in conversion rates if they can evangelise the product. @flexiroam please make sure all the in-flight crews are given plenty of free data 50GB so that they get to know the product, and will do their best for FRX rather than simply 'slinging' the SIM.
Where possible give customers the X microchip, the sticky customers are the ones they want, keep the customer until they upgrade to an eSIM handset.
Train them on diagnosing an unlocked phone, educate customers to unlock before they fly.
Each punter is worth $77 AUD/year.
@flexiroam, it would also be nice to have some numbers for Scoot (doesn't have to be confidential ones) how many passengers does Scoot have, how many were presented with the offer?
@brendankok, it is not every passenger. It is for passengers travelling to/from:
Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, New Zealand, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom and Vietnam.
I certainly notice a few of those countries regularly in the AppAnnie rankings, so it is well targeted.
The announcement indicates that it will be offered to code share passengers, so passengers who have booked with MAS flying with the partner Airlines: (presumably to/from Malaysia on the above mentioned destinations)
American Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airways (including its affiliate Cathay Dragon), Finaair, Japan Airlines, Qatar Airways, Royal Jordanian and Sri Lanka Airlines. MAS code-share partners that are not part of the OneWorld include its subsidiary Firefly, Air Mauritius, Bangkok Airways, China Southern Airlines, Egyptair, Etihad, Garuda Gulf Air, Jet Airways, KLM, Korean Air, Oman Air, Philippine Airlines, Royal Brunei Airlines, Silk Air, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, Turkish Airlines and Uzbekistan Airways.
There are some great opportunities to replicate this deal with one or all of the airlines.
Well done FRX team!
