I cant see any relevance to the WhatsApp founders quitting and FRX's X2 product. To be clear there is no 'deal' per se between FRX and WhatsApp. FRX are merely providing unmetered data to WhatsApp users in return for providing 10 customer referrals.
It's basically a copy of https://www.chatsim.com idea. The advantage of FRX being with the microchip you don't need to swap SIMs.
When the Sipvoice deal was announced I did a quick Google, and although my Portugese is a little rusty, it certainly looks as though FRX have moved to displace Chatsim with SipVoice in the Brazilian market (presumably by offering exclusivity and a better deal?).
I'd suggest that it might even be likely that the discussions with Sipvoice may have initiated the idea for X2?
I had suspected at the time it was announced the beta program was merely a strategy to scale up downloads in a traditionally quiet time of year, but had also expected that FRX would release a commercial X2 product at a similar price point to ChatSIM (~$40/year) for chat users on May 1, however this has not happened yet.
A week into May and the rates of download have not tapered off at all, which is quite surprising to me given the X2 beta referral program is closed. The download and subscriber numbers for the quarter were quite impressive too, and FRX should be awfully close to 50k subscribers by now.
