OK, it's a poor area, but if this discovery comes off, there will be a huge increase in the local standard of living: medical clinics, new roads and schools.Perhaps even a new airstrip to help air-freight all the gold etc out and avoid all the brigands....

This is another reason why investments of this nature are important- it's not only our own selfish interests.
