What minerals are the gold in? (sorry I have 2 years of BBX announcements to catch up on).
I’m assuming sulphide or quartz?
In dolerite, feldspar weathers to kaolinite which is effectively just clay. That is going to wash away far easier than quartz-sulphide veins/stockwork. Feldspar will not be a host to the fine grained gold. Therefore if clay washes away due to high water/poor recovery, then the grade will be biased high.
Agree there is likely to be a supergene later somewhere in the oxide material, but that is not the point of the above. The point being that a significant systemic bias could exist in all wet RC samples.
