Go have a look at NCM chart Sept - Dec 2008 especially Oct 2008. Yes gold equities got hit in the GFC but I'm betting again on a far quicker recovery for gold stocks viz a viz blue chip equities as money piles into areas which are viewed as safe havens / or quick $$$ to be made. Human behavior can be predictable based on previous crises.
The next bust however has had a decade of funny money exponentially pumping the markets so who knows really what will transpire in the next equities crisis. It is going to be fun to watch however...so have fingers in as many pies as you can.
