I think you'll find the current gold resource much lower than the 800oz you mentioned. More like 300k, but with pretty high expectations there may be considerably more - to be explored soon... (as per most recent announcement)
MCR is heading much more into gold now given the commodity market situation. Yes, nickel it was (and only) however, if you've got gold as well, why not produce that? It's all money. ... Especially as nickel is looking so ordinary.
MCR may one of the nickel miners that survives due to diversification. I do know they outsource the gold processing and my question was just related to that really: whether or not nickel processing closures might impact on gold processors.... in essence. My own guess is probably not. Maybe, if they proved up a big enough resource they may consider building their own processing plant, but I have no idea of the practical feasibility or sense of that. Certainly short term, to bolster the coffers, tolling would seem the obvious choice.
MCR is a very low cap stock now with a terrific management record. I am hoping this direction for them is the start of something which can evolve into something sizeable. If/when nickel returns to favour, MCR may find itself one of the most cashed up players around for its size. Time'll tell. Stand alone, gold may yet prove very lucrative for them.
