Using SAMSON would be to try and see deeper than otherwise would be possible with other techniques. Depth of penetration depends severely on factors such as resistivity of the country-rock around your conductor, and conductivity of the overburden. This part of the world has a severely conductive overburden (much worse than around Nova), so depth of penetration will be less.
You use the most appropriate technique that gets you the best possible data. Key word - possible, as in, what can actually be achieved in the real world, as opposed to what theory tells you can be done in ideal conditions.
And, unlike AMT, these anomalies shouldn't just disappear in a puff of logic off the end of the drill bit. Just remains to be seen what's actually caused them.
