Rex Harbour's name has come up with a few lame ducks, so I'm tempted to think we're no more inept as investors (to get involved with a company like MIZ) than he is. The only thing is, I'm sure he has far deeper pockets, and most likely a stable of quality investments as well.
I can't imagine anyone being willing to buy new shares via a rights offer. Rather, I should think most shareholders are keen to unload their current holding at almost any price. The question is, though, whether the selling brokerage would exceed the value of the shares! On that basis maybe most will opt to hang in and hope for a miraculous turnaround (assuming re-listing occurs of course).
Presumably the creditors have been convinced that there is realistic hope of future profits or else they wouldn't have even contemplated a 'new' start, so I'm willing to think positively as well - but not enough to buy more shares!
