Galena increases Abra's magic
GALENA Mining has sliced and diced and added some big bits and pieces to its proposed Abra lead development and presto, the NPV of the project has gone past half a billion dollars.
The project in Western Australia will produce a lot more lead and silver for longer after "improvements and optimisation of mining methods", with average annual output now averaging more than 78,000t of lead and nearly 700,000oz of silver (for 14 years).
Previously the project was to operate for 11 years and produce about 73,000tpa of lead and 363,000oz of silver.
The capital cost to get the project up and running is barely changed at A$154 million.
The increased size, longer life Abra has seen the NPV rise 34% to $528 million (versus scoping work earlier this year), while the IRR has dropped from 61% to 50%.
Galena noted certain financial assumptions changed in the pre-feasibility modelling, though the lead price used remained unchanged at US95c per pound.
