"Today, EnergyAustralia is a better-run energy retailer with a solid financial foundation," Ms Tanna said, noting the company was now able to invest to help the transition to cleaner energy supply.
She called for a commitment to a national energy plan, saying its lack was hurting customers.
"Governments must let go of the investment handbrake," she said. "After a decade of paralysis, Australians need stable energy policy. To make large, long-term investments – without subsidies – we need to know the rules of the game."
