Both Westpac and Intelligent Investor are telling me the current P/E is 653. Although forward multiples should be taken into account in the fullness of making an investment decision, I'm sceptical of them as a standalone piece of financial data, e.g. BAL was also trading on a FY2017 multiple of 17. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't dream of selling this share for many years to come, but it's easy to manipulate prices when so much blue sky is built in.
