...and just to add to your point, looking at @BobLoblaw post the other day - value , with the sales of iphones are currently in the doldrums. Extrapolate accross the board at the delivery quantities of all target items per annum, and then think of all of those items which will be upgraded when AKP technology becomes available.
The initial market may be much greater than the per-annum delivery currently in each sector as old tech is upgraded … and mobile phone companies scramble for that "point of difference" you mention (not to mention tablet and laptop manufacturers, television and sound system producers, car audio providers etc.
It would be something different to get on a plane and be able to understand what the pilot is saying because the pa can be provided from a better distributed and more reactive speaker system.
All these things are "out with the old, in with the new" … significantly adding to the potential initial market.
