    Just to help put hydrogen and the competitiveness of the methane pyrolysis process into perspective, check this out.

    “BASF leads a consortium evaluating methane pyrolysis since 2013”. They’re still in R&D mode (semi-pilot scale), EDE has already scaled up to a commercial level (for the carbon at least). Interestingly they describe the pilot scale project as being a success despite crashing the reactor during sample production.

    Seems like the technology may be a viable low cost/ green option for hydrogen production.
    “Hydrogen could be produced from natural gas using little Energy with solid carbon as byproduct”

    I wonder what form of carbon they produced given the potential uses they quote. No mention of valuable CNTs.
    “Uses for byproduct carbon:
    – Steel industry
    – Aluminium production
    – Storage Options for Pyrolysis Carbon”
