KfW Bank operate and lend in Tanzania. One of their recent lends was funding of an insurance program which helped local women access safe birthing assistance. To say the quality of life has improved as a result is an understatement. The program was so successful it is being expanded (next year i think).

I believe KfW also operate out of the recently moved German embassy, being a government funded/run bank.
