Zman - I disagree - the more shorters in the market - the better. Great incentives to uncover all the dodgy stuff. It is the spruikers and rampers who do the most damage on the long side. Pretty obvious when you consider the ratio of shorts to longs in the market. It is obvious why shorters get the most bad press - nearly everybody wants their shares to go up.
China needs more shorters in their market - would have reduced the froth, and provided a desperately needed reason to look for dodgy stuff. Instead they'll probably start shooting shorters soon by firing squad.
