My point about the colour blind geologist was to emphasise that colour is not as a reliable property in identifying minerals as crystalline shape, size and texture and that bornite normally tarnishes very quickly in the presence of air to the iridescent blue, purple colours shown in the examples I posted. If you actually read my posts I explained that some unusual types of bornite don’t tarnish as quickly due to the variations in the ratio of iron and sulphur in their crystal lattices so the fact that the bornite in the PXX core appears to be a light pinkish-red colour is actually explainable.

What I had said is that given the disseminated nature of the bornite within the thin banding pictured in the cores, I didn’t think that those intersections looked like they would contain payable ore grades. If they had have pictured core trays with metres and metres of core with strong banding of the same type then maybe I’d be more swayed by these announcements but so far it just looks like a few cherry picked small sections of photographed core and descriptions with wildly broad ranging estimates of potential grade. If the company had an XRF scanner they should have been able to give much less broad ranging estimates of base metal grade. Most base metal explorers nowadays carry this equipment as part of the exploration kit.

As mentioned in my post above the deeper the intersection the higher the grade (x width) required so you better hope you are right about interpreting these core photos and descriptions to the upside on grade or the egg will be on your face not mine. As mentioned also, hole ZX-18020 looks the best to me so far based on potential grade, width and depth from surface.

And I’m not posting again because the price went up, I posted again because I noticed another exploration update announcement and had something to add to the conversation about it. Esh
