PS to my prior comment comparing today's Congo to old Texas: I enjoy the parallel fact that Texas was developed largely by free Negroes, for example (contrary to most Hollywood movies) around ONE THIRD of American cowboys were Black (in the classic age of cowboys the late 1800s), including lots of recently emancipated former slaves (after the Civil War ended 1865), here's a photo of some: http://robt.shepherd.tripod.com/black-cowboys.jpg
