I think that’s a bit unfair trk. Nick Garling was not a charlatan - he had a fair proportion of his wealth invested and was probably the biggest loser in the end. He was a true believer in the project and was devastated when the funding was withdrawn over night. A major issue was mill feed which was heavily diluted by barren rock being included rather than being sorted prior to milling. The nature of the ore bodies (flat lying) are labour intensive to mine and result in massive dilution as a result of the narrow veins/stoping height ratios. Vertical/sub vertical ore bodies can be mined by a good air legger at around a little more than body width with the added advantage of gravity providing the means of getting the material to the draw point.
