In late 2011, Sirius drilled a reconnaissance traverse of 6 reverse circulation (RC)
holes over a small portion of the “Eye” geochem soil anomaly and encouragingly
intersected strong nickel-copper-cobalt enrichment in the weathered rocks (laterites)
above a highly metamorphosed mafic granulite. With some of the better intersections
including 16m @ 0.63% Ni and 0.17% Cu from 8m (including 4m @ 0.86% Ni and
0.20% Cu); and 20m @ 0.57% Ni and 0.10% Cu from 8m (including 8m @ 0.72% Ni,
0.16% Cu and 0.13% Co). The drilling was deemed a technical success, and it was
noted that the presence of anomalous copper along with nickel enrichment
distinguished it from nickel laterites.
