Non-executive director usually means someone who has a quick flick through the business papers every few months and turns up for the slap-up dinner. Still as long as Ms Ranich puts her foot down when the boys starting talking about another dumber-than-dumb acquisition like PPI, she’ll be a worthwhile addition.
