    Age wasn't an issue when everyone was saying what a great board addition he was.

    More likely the realization has dawned that Magnis will not be able to raise the 100's of millions (if not billions) dollars required to build giga factories to support a battery technology that any of the real battery players would have already acquired if it was as good as claimed.
