"The Company advises that the vendor has supplied the initial wafer from the batch that has undergone various optimisation techniques in the final steps of fabrication. The vendor will continue to supply the balance of the wafers to the Company in regular intervals to allow for measurement and analysis of pixel yield and performance under “real playing” conditions. This will enable the vendor to properly assess the relative contribution each process adjustment has on the overall fabrication process."

My take from this is that a singular wafer has been produced with a handful of adjusted processes. If this chip has been successful and can be tested under "real playing" conditions, we may have a demonstrable chip.
I believe now the vendor will pass through a series of chips with each unique adjusted process being applied to unique chips to validate and research possible implications of said adjustment. Maybe through this they can refine further.
If this is the case, there's some substantial fine tuning left to do yet, but it does look promising if there's a mass-producible prototype that can be used for "real playing" conditions.
