My answer is: 'to make a lot of money by having the company exploit its extremely prospective tenements by way of thorough exploration and/or create a business synergy with Sandfire Resources that should add much value to the company'.

He would also have something in mind that would also benefit 'his' Horseshoe Metals, thus adding to his wealth.

I don't think that it's anything more than that.

I think that the problems with others arose when he both directly and indirectly either interfered with or unduly influenced important decision-making, especially on exploration. The fan got very dirty and smelly as a result.
