And, there are two possible reasons for that:

1) IF you were a reasonable politician (I say reasonable, because if you were a good one you'd still be there), you would have access into places and avenues which could be advantageous to the company at some stage or another, and

2) If you were to be completely useless, you would keep the seat on the Board warm at all times, and keep on voting in favour of the resoultions put in front of you without asking any questions either.

A win win situation for the company and themselves, while us retail investors get..........
