Mainly because it's interesting.

But also I get a lot of people talking to me about how to get into investing. I tell them to read Fairfax blog daily, read company announcements and read HC.

Hotcopper is important for providing sentiment. You can't stack it with blow hards talking about how awesome the company is when it clearly is a train wreck.

Finally I wasn't trying to brag. I was answering a direct question honestly about the investing boundaries put on me by my wife.
