Some other food for thought, What about T3D having a 3D printing data base, downloadable STL files along the lines of pinshape.com or similar with the option to have it printed in their facility. Pick your file you want it opens in the printing service site and you pick your options and cost appears.
This way you can see what is out there being made by people, thus sparking interest and conversation and if you don't own a printer but want it is all there without changing between sites etc.
