looking over the original announcement, this contract was due to be completed in March 2010, so there was a 9 month delay. i wonder if the heart of the dispute is that NOMAD has claimed the delay due to design changes, but the JV has not accepted the claim. 2 days for $4.5M makes no sense, but $4.5M for 9 months is believable, especially on a $45M contract - was probably capped at 10%, 0.5% per week late or something, and they hit the maximum. as you say, Thiess has the gun contracts people, so they wouldnt press this claim unless it had merit.
