Maybe selling off the crown jewel protects it from opportunistic raiders.
Business condition may further deteriorate, oil may not come back in time, oilers may just end offshore works... those things can drown MRM. Selling off the bases and yard in Australia is what's saving them, literally, from the people who can bankrupt them.
It's cheaper to have bases, fix boats in Indonesia or Singpaore than it is in Australia. Sure, ideally they should keep the Australian bases too... but tough times call for trimmings.
