Gassed I don't understand why you keep defending CEO's and blaming shareholders for poor share price performance.
Anyone, no matter whether small shareholders or large, will respond positively if a company offers a good deal. That is one of the fundamentals of human nature no matter whether you only buy or hold $1000 worth of shares as an individual or $1M worth as an institution.
So if the response to a previous CR was poor it was almost certainly because the deal did not seem like a good deal at the time.
Your comments are akin to saying if a company brings a new product to the market and nobody buys it, its the market's fault. In such cases its always the company that has mis-understood what the market wants or failed to communicate to the market how the new product can solve a problem the market has, not the other way around.
You can't expect shareholders to subscribe to a deal if its a crap deal. Maybe shareholders at the time sensed that the Track acquisition was not a good deal better than Dom did, and I'm not saying Track isnt a good business, just that the price paid was too high, debt borrowed was too much and/or terms too favourable for the vendors - and as its turned out its been all 3.
Cheers, Sharks.
