With the fact that they announced a suspension, could it be they had thought a deal from the talks was imminent? Now that talks are potentially going less and a deal unlikely they decided to clarify that they were merely in early stage discussions to insulate the share price rather than let the suspension run the full week and end in naught.
All IMO just throwing out converse theories to all the highly positive ones that are floating around.
Doesn't it seem odd to any one else that they go into a TH and suspension just to announce that essentially "...negotiations are early stage and currently are incomplete and indefinite."
What is the speculation as to who they are in deals with?
