re: Ann: Collins Foods Appoints New COO & Gro... hope he can do something to improve their marketing and menu, particlarly in three areas:
1.just been into a few stores and really their posters and p.o.s. material need a new makeover- what strikes you first and foremost is the high calories and not the new high oleic oil!!
i know they have to comply with regulations with the display of calories, but hungry jacks and mcdonalds do it better - both of the latter have a much better choice of low cal meals, and hungry jacks has lifted its game a lot (the stores within our locality seem busier)
2. the other area where kfc and collins lacks is with marketing to children - i read about a year ago that yum were going easy in marketing during kids tv shows etc - what a joke! especially as mcdonalds make a feature of it and do it well - besides ronald mcdonald, they have joint promos with all of the big movie hits of the time- i.e. toys and giveaways etc
3. I believe the menu not only needs more low calorie choices, but it also needs another protein( i note red rooster has fish now, but despite offending certain religious groups could pork be possible?); and also a vegetarian offer! everyone is selling more and more chicken (including more preccooked at supermarkets etc)and pizza hut and dominoes etc - kfc is seeing its competition swell and not doing enough to broaden its base - i know they do it well, and cost effectively, but to stand still is to go backwards!!
re sizzler - i dont know what the answer is there, as they probably do a good job in a difficult market segment - get a pokies licence!! - maybe in the long run best managed by a big family concern!
I am not a professional food marketer, but i have had some sales and commerce training,and have followed lots of failed ( and some successful) food companies over the years!!
