Funny that in the last three months, Apollo has ditched their stock, CEO has resigned, a huge buyback has been in play with another 20% of market cap buyback approved at the AGM, and now the COO is resigning cum May or so. The NRL deal provided a bit of SP spark recently. Seems there are a lot of interesting ingredients.
However why would shareholders want NEC to buy back their own stock? Oh -because they hope the SP will go up with the buying pressure! But wouldn't that also been seen as evidence that there are very few growth avenues? Surely there are some growth avenues out there. I've shorted as rightly or wrongly, DSH and SPO have put investors on guard for stocks after the PE have exited. But also the media landscape is changing super fast, and I doubt NEC can be nimble enough to take advantage of it.
