The BUG share price is currently near 10 year lows, and the following news, taken from a Hawaiian website, provides a bit of insight into what might be driving the selling:
...It’s only May and wildfires have burned more than twice as much land in Hawaii as they did in all of 2015.
More than 60 percent of the state is experiencing moderate drought conditions, and parts of the Big Island are facing extreme drought, according to the U.S Drought Monitor...
The following image, taken from the US Drought Monitor website mentioned above, shows the areas of Hawaii impacted by drought:
Notice that red blob to the south-west of the Big Island?. The red zone represents the areas of Hawaii in extreme drought. I believe the Macfarms orchard would fall within this area of extreme drought.
Earlier this year, Fiji was devastated by Cyclone Winston and subsequent flooding. Given the Buderim Group has operations in Fiji you would assume there would have probably been some impact on the company.
Yet none of these disasters have been mentioned in any of the three announcements released by the company so far this year. Perhaps the company has managed to dodge a bullet (or two bullets, to be more exact) but I have some trouble believing that.
It seems to me that the management of this company is having some trouble understanding the 'continuous disclosure' obligation.
