I agree totally with you. If the execs are worth it then pay them cash. There is a myth that giving free or low cost shares / options costs us nothing, but this is a complete fallacy. Paying cash concentrates the mind wonderfully and encourages fiscal prudence. Ideally the execs would then take the cash & buy shares on market thus increasing the SP for everyone.
