ASX only require 7 days between the announcement of the Div and Record Date. As an example MOC announced 23/2 and record date was 8/3. 10 trading days.
RXP allowed 1 month for new purchasers (incl Directors) to pick up the Div. A month is routine in big liquid stocks and probably not as major issue but when I held SAI they used to get belted like RXP has been during this entitlement period.
It's not a big thing, and the share price is determined by more than just the Div but I just think prospective shareholders can make up their minds in less than a month and the longer the div is on the table the more incentive there is for a bit of creative trading.
But let me be clear I am not saying Directors are trading creatively since they can only trade during their window but it's nice Ross had 15 business days to watch the action before piling in. I know the sp was $0.80 at 10 days too but on principal I don't like.
I am sure you're sorry you asked
