Sorry, I didn't explain myself correctly regarding cost. Yes, you're right, the cost of producing content will be identical, but there's a cost involved in selling it to potential clients. One could argue that a simple web page with samples may be enough, but surely a sales team would be far more effective; and they all command a salary.
My only concern with having a consolidation of content delivery mechanisms (i.e. many cable companies losing out to Netflix), is that the balance of power will shift toward those who deliver the content. If a producer chooses not to provide content to Netflix because of price, does this mean they can no longer survive?
At this point, this power shift is nowhere near complete, as many other mechanisms to deliver content to consumers still exists - but it may only be a matter of time.
