Hi Plough
You mentioned the triple side dump trains and I was wondering what would make them a good candidate. I get the garbage truck stop start really hard cycle and maintenance but the side dumps are not in a super corrosive environment. At the right price they are a benefit on any Prime mover / trailer and possibly economical on the prime mover to cut maintenance downtime but not sure about the trailers unless coming down the ranges with very high heat loadings or such which tear up normal brakes. With trailers not having power, oil reservoir and cooling available perhaps ABV need a small internal hydraulic pump inside the assembly to pump fluid through a oil cooler ( if they use that I want a commission) . Would save a lot of cost on electric set up as not required on trailers so keeping it simple. Then again it would only be one extra line to hook p and run them all back to the prime mover ? . Crazy thing is the standards won't allow you to have fewer braked axles even when you fit better brakes. Unless the trailers can have higher axle ratings to have fewer braked axles then it may not be economical.
The comments about 100,000 truck in USA etc may be a wild number as it is only the really hard used stop start that can probably justify the costs until a large scale up in production bring production costs down significantly.
Niche mining and municipal fleets area great target. Mining may sound like it is giving t=you great country access but it is realistically just BHP,CRZ, CRA and the big majors expanding the savings and training to their business units. It is not happening outside the mine . These are great clients as the training manual is there ready to go and you start selling them spare parts as the vehicles are so heavily used 24 hours a day.
Garbage trucks have to pay back in 5 years or less on the fleet as they trade the chassis out by the look of it so unless the fleets remove the brake units and fit to the new trucks they have to get their money's worth. Now with the landcruisers in mines I don't see the brakes ever leave the mine so i assume they refit the old units to new trucks? Built so well we may just get consumables from them if they do and the unit will last as long as the series of truck they fit it to is purchased.
Hope some of that makes sense and I better do some work and think about if these guys will need cash or can keep cash flow and lines of credit working efficiently ad formalise a commitment from a municipal authority or garbage contractor for staged introductions so we don't have to issue more shares.. With cash flow and contracts in place we become a bankable company and can access larger lines of credit better priced .
