Stardestroyers explanation above is not wrong (and totally valid) but it is not the reason I originally said I value on market purchases.

Management and directors often get shares as part of remuneration packages or as performance rights or as any other kind of excuse the company can come up with. I have a bit of disdain for ASX companies in this regard in that a lot of them are fat cats and give themselves shares under whatever pretense they can.

Seeing management/directors buying on market is a show of faith in the company and demonstrates a willingness to put their own (hard) earned money into the company like the rest of us are expected to. On market purchases are usually perceived pretty positively by the market.

Just my opinion and 2c, others may not necessarily agree.
