When much younger I was involved (provided geological data management services as an employee to a consultant) with a junior explorer who ended up with a small gold mine in QLD that when it got to the cream at the bottom of the pit, the gold wasn't there.
The MD and geo absconded to Peru, because there is no extradition treaty in Peru, with a significant bunch of company funds.
Talking to one of the old timers then about how this could happen, he said it was easily possible to get a diamond core up to 10g/t just by running a gold wedding band up and down it a couple of times.
Not saying anything like that happened here, but it just highlights that 1 g/t is 1 part per million and even spectacular grades only represent a very, very small amount of gold in the amount of rock chips or core assayed and with RC smearing etc etc need to be carefully considered (re sampled, re-assayed etc etc) before treating as a true indication of the overall situation in the ground.
Best wishes to everyone here, they may still have the goods, let's hope.
